Avignon photos

Young girl at a canoeing promotion trying out jumping skills

Early morning views of Pont d'Avignon

Palace spires

16euro ride for one hour on this boat and you wouldn't see much!

Sheltered square in the heart of town. To the left is nothing but outdoor seating for cafes and restaurants and bars. The social heart of Avignon!

Beautiful clock tower from which the name of the main square derived it's name ie "Clock Tower"

Old fashioned something! Can't remember the name!!

Looking at main square with Carousel made in 1900.

Walk through a narrow alley about 30 ft long and into another square in front of the Palace des Papes

Accordian busker. Played some great music! Very talented.

Another example of local architecture

Taken in centre of courtyard in the Palace des Papes looking up at the golden statue on top of the church

Another view of the same courtyard

A TV picture of a painted wall inside the Palace

Statues of some Kings who lived here

This is a relief carving see below and it stands out in 3D

The Church built beside the Palace for the Popes

View across square to front of Palace

Another example of local architecture

Walking back across the Rhone river and this is the view.
